Current Bill Summary

SB 593 - Under current law, a probation term shall not be less than 6 months or more than 2 years for a misdemeanor. This act modifies this term to be not more than 18 months for a misdemeanor or municipal ordinance violation.

Additionally, no client of a private probation service shall be required to submit to an alcohol or drug test unless the client is on probation for an offense that involved either alcohol or a controlled substance or unless ordered by the judge for good cause.

This act is identical to HB 2335 (2021).
