SJR 5 - Under current law, initiative petitions proposing constitutional amendments must be approved by a simple majority of the votes cast at the election in order to take effect. This amendment, if approved by the voters, requires such initiative petitions to be approved by at least 60% of the votes cast in order for the measure to take effect. This amendment is similar to provisions in CCS/SS#3/HCS/HJR 43 (2023), SJR 10 (2023), SJR 17 (2023), HJR 6 (2023), HJR 18 (2023), HJR 29 (2023), and HJR 40 (2023).
