HB 230 -- FIREARMS IN MOTOR VEHICLES

SPONSOR: Bangert

This bill requires that firearms beings transported or stored in a motor vehicle be unloaded and stored in a locked trunk or locked container. The bill makes exceptions for certain individuals if the concealable firearm is in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, is lawfully possessed, and the firearm is a handgun under the direct control of the person carrying the firearm; the person is in possession of an exposed firearm or projectile weapon for the lawful pursuit of game; the person and motor vehicle are in the person's dwelling unit or premises; or the person is traveling on a continuous journey peaceably through this state.

This bill is the same as HB 2284 (2022).
