HB 233 -- ELECTION JUDGES

SPONSOR: Bangert

This bill authorizes election authorities to solicit election judges based on voter registration records. Election authorities may make use of the Missouri voter registration system and seek to achieve a representative sample of the population as specified in the bill. Service as an election judge shall be voluntary. The terms of service are specified in the bill.

Employers are prohibited from requiring the use of annual, vacation, personal, or sick leave during election judge service. Hourly pay may be reduced for work missed as specified in the bill.

A violation by an employer is a class D misdemeanor.

This bill is the same as HB 2585 (2022) and HB 351 (2021).
