This bill authorizes the Department of Natural Resources to acquire by purchase or gift the portions of the Lone Jack Civil War Battlefield, Museum, and Cemetery in Jackson County, Missouri, to be operated and maintained by the Division of State Parks. The portions of the battlefield, museum, and cemetery authorized for acquisition are certain parcels in the core battlefield presently protected in the Lone Jack Battlefield Preservations Plan created in 2013.
The bill further creates the "Lone Jack Civil War Battlefield, Museum, and Cemetery Fund", which consists of gifts, bequests, and moneys donated or collected. The State Treasurer will be the custodian of the Fund.
This bill is similar to HB 1777 (2022).
