HB 378 -- BEHAVIORAL CRISIS GRANT PROGRAM

This bill provides that, subject to appropriation, the Department of Mental Health shall establish and administer a Behavioral Crisis Grant Program to assist nonprofit organizations in the creation or maintenance of programs that support individuals that experience a behavioral crises, as defined in the bill.

To be eligible for a grant under the Program, a nonprofit organization must provide health care, mental health care, or other services and support that address behavioral health issues as well as provide a crisis phone line or messaging service, a residential facility for individuals experiencing a behaviorist crisis, or a referral program for assisting individuals in obtaining health care, mental health care, or other services and support.

The Department shall promulgate all necessary rules and regulations for the administration of the Program.

This bill creates the "Behavioral Crisis Grant Program Fund", a dedicated fund to be used solely to fund the grant program as established in the bill.

This bill is similar to HB 2253 (2022).
