HB 499 -- FOREIGN OWNERSHIP OF AGRICULTURAL LAND

This bill prohibits any alien or foreign business from acquiring agricultural land in the state after August 28, 2023 and requires any foreign business that holds any interest in agricultural land to divest the interest before August 28, 2028. The bill also requires the Department of Agriculture to perform certain tasks as specified in the bill to ensure that a foreign business divests its interest.
This bill is similar to HB 430 (2023).
