Current Bill Summary

SB 273 - This act modifies provisions of current law prohibiting the State Board of Education from mandating the curriculum, textbooks, or other instructional materials to be used in public schools by allowing the Board to require certain history curriculum topics as described in the act.

Under this act, the Board shall adopt and require that the history curriculum taught in the 7th through 12th grades include topics of Native American history and African American history, as further described in the act.

This act is identical to SB 950 (2022).
