Current Bill Summary

SJR 6 - This constitutional amendment, if adopted by the voters, creates a Parents' Bill of Rights, affirming the fundamental right of parents to participate in and direct the education of their children.

Every parent shall have the right to access certain school and school district information on school district websites, including curricula and lesson plans, academic performance information, financial information, and details of contract negotiations between districts and labor groups.

Parents shall have the right to choose existing educational choice options that best suit the learning needs of their children.

Parents shall have the right to request to opt their children out of the classroom for any presentation or content with which they disagree.

Parents shall have the right to control their children's likeness in district materials.

Finally, parents shall have the right to control their children's health and identifying markers and opt their children out of health measures not required by state order or statute.
