Current Bill Summary

SB 1011 - This act modifies provisions relating to county political party committees.

The act creates a different composition for the Republican Party county committee in Jackson County than for the Democratic Party county committee in Jackson County. The composition for the Democratic Party committee remains unchanged from current law under this act. The composition of the Republican Party committee is modified such that the committee is to consist of the following members:

· Six members, three men and three women, from Kansas City;

· Six members, three men and three women, from each of the first, second, and third most populous townships outside the city; and

· Four members, two men and two women, from each of the remaining townships outside the city.

The act allows the persons elected secretary and treasurer of each county political party committee in Jackson County to vote on all matters before the committee, regardless if the person is a member of the committee, provided that if the person is not a member of the committee, then such person shall not vote for nomination of candidates for elections to fill vacancies in county offices.

This act is effective January 1, 2025.
