Current Bill Summary

SB 1223 - Under current law, victims of certain offenses are afforded rights, such as the right to be present at all proceedings at which the defendant will be present, the right to be notified of the defendant's release from confinement, as well as other rights.

This act adds that family members of the victims shall have the same rights as victims and also adds the offenses of involuntary manslaughter in the first or second degree and driving while intoxicated if the person is found guilty of a felony as offenses in which the victim will be notified.
