Current Bill Summary

HB 1518 - This act prohibits a public institution of higher education from taking adverse action against a belief-based student association, such as a political, ideological, or religious association, based on such association's viewpoints or its leaders' actions on the association's behalf. Specifically, a public institution of higher education shall not deny a belief-based student association any benefit available to other student associations, including the use of the institution's facilities and communication channels. A belief-based student association may seek relief in a judicial or administrative proceeding against a public institution of higher education that violates the provisions of the act.
