SB 464 - This act provides that a person commits the offense of endangering the welfare of a child when a person knowingly fails to secure a readily available firearm in the presence of a child under 17 years of age or in a residence where a child under 17 years of age resides. This offense shall be a class D felony, unless the offense causes physical harm or death to a child then it shall be a higher penalty. This act is identical to HB 1877 (2024) and substantially similar to SB 996 (2024).
