Current Bill Summary

SB 286 - Under the act, an electric utility shall reimburse a customer for a loss resulting from an electric service interruption lasting for more than 48 hours.

An electric utility shall create a loss recovery form and make it available on its website. If the loss is greater than $200, an electric customer shall submit receipts for the loss with the form to the electric utility before getting reimbursed.

The Public Service Commission shall require electric utilities to maintain records of each instance an electric transmission falls below 50% of the standard voltage or whenever an electric service interruption affects more than 10 customers. The record shall not include disconnection of service to customers for good cause. Contents of the record are described in the act. Copies of the record shall be made public on the electric utility’s website.

The act is identical to SB 1204 (2024).
