HB 52 -- Family Resource Centers
This bill requires the Department of Social Services and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to establish and coordinate family resource centers. These departments are required to establish demonstration centers in at least 3 public schools, one located in an urban area, one in a suburban area, and one in a rural area. These centers will centralize existing community resources to provide child care services, remedial education, parenting training, teen pregnancy prevention programs, referrals, and support services to families receiving aid to families with dependent children and other families in need. The bill specifies that centers use a sliding scale of payment for day care services and establishes experience and educational requirements for program administrators.
