HB 62 -- Property Insurance
The bill makes several changes to the Missouri Fair Plan, which provides property insurance coverage for persons who are unable to obtain coverage. The bill:
(1) Prohibits the FAIR plan's administrators from denying coverage based on: the property's location or age; environmental hazards beyond the applicant's control; an applicant's credit history; or vacancy of the property, unless after 30 days there is evidence of an intent to keep the property vacant;
(2) Adds coverage for liability, replacement costs, and medical pay;
(3) Raises from $100,000 to $200,000 the maximum limits of liability that can be offered under a homeowner's policy; and
(4) Allows payment of premiums quarterly, semiannually, or annually.
