HB 111 -- Watercraft Safety
This bill requires a propeller guard to be on any propeller-- driven watercraft, and certain engines designed to turn or rotate a propeller, manufactured after January 1, 1996. The bill also forbids individuals from operating any pleasure or sports watercraft, manufactured after January 1, 1996, on any navigable waterways of Missouri without a propeller guard.
Violation of the propeller guard requirement is a Class A misdemeanor, unless the violation results in serious injury or death, in which case, it becomes a Class D felony. A second or subsequent conviction is also a Class D felony. The bill allows certain exceptions to the propeller guard requirement.
