HB 116 -- Smoking in Correctional Facilities
This bill requires the Department of Corrections to select one of its facilities to be smoke free. Before the ban begins the department will institute a smoking cessation program, approved by the Department of Health, in the facility chosen. The department is required to conduct a study of the effects and determine the feasibility of implementing the prohibition in all correctional facilities.
The bill also prohibits smoking in all correctional facilities within 3 years of the effective date of this bill.
Anyone in violation of this act is guilty of an infraction.
