HB 166 -- Motor Vehicle Insurance

This bill requires that, in order to register a motor vehicle, one must present a copy of a receipt to the Director of Revenue that shows proof of financial responsibility for the vehicle was maintained during the previous year or during the period for which the vehicle was registered by the registrant. If proof is not supplied, the director must register the vehicle and initiate proceedings against the registrant for failure to maintain proof of financial responsibility.

Any insurer that issues motor vehicle liability policies must inform the Director of Revenue, within 30 days, of cancellation of any policy.
