HB 218 -- Pay Plan for Public Safety Officers
This bill authorizes division directors or chiefs to develop a pay plan, within available appropriations, for certain officers of the State Water Patrol, Liquor Control, State Fire Marshall's Office, State Capitol Police, and State Highway Patrol. Pay plans developed for these classes of employees will take into consideration ranks and length of service. These officers' salaries are to be increased by the cost of living portion of any pay plan increase granted to state merit employees, based on actual current salaries. In addition, the Director of the Department of Public Safety is authorized to establish policies for increasing these officers' salaries every 5 years, with the limitation that any such increase cannot exceed 10% of the officer's salary.
