HB 222 -- Trademarks
This bill establishes new classes of goods and services for the purpose of administering the registration of trademarks, service marks and emblems. Assignments of a mark are required to be filed with the Secretary of State.
The requirement that certain organizations using the name of a military, benevolent, fraternal or charitable organization file the name and any badge with the Secretary of State is repealed. Such organizations may make a voluntary filing. The Secretary of State is required to issue a certificate of registration to an applicant who files under the statute.
Registration of an emblem is made effective for 10 years and can be renewed for additional 10 year periods.
