HB 259 -- Sales/Use Tax
This bill changes the location where a lease on motor vehicles, trailers, boats and motors is deemed consummated for purposes of local tax distribution. Under current law, local sales taxes on leased motor vehicles, trailers, boats and motors are distributed to the political subdivision where the leasing dealer is located. This bill will distribute these local taxes to the location of the purchaser, as is currently done with a conventional vehicle sale.
This bill becomes effective January 1, 1996.
