HB 294 -- St. Louis Police Salaries
This bill revises the salary matrix for different ranks of police officers for fiscal years August 28, 1995 until June 30, 1996; and from July 1, 1996, until June 30, 1997, payable in biweekly installments. It increases the rank from sergeant to lieutenant and above where no additional compensation or compensatory time off is allowed for overtime, court time, or standby court time. Sergeants are added to those who receive additional pay for all hours of service determined to be nonexempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Those receiving nonexempt hours receive 1 1/2 times their regular hourly rate of pay. Credit will be given and deductions will be made from payments for overtime for the purpose of retirement benefits. Hours in excess of 40 will be determined as compensatory time to be taken off at the discretion of the officer with the approval of the supervisor.
