HB 371 -- Employee Safety
This bill requires public utilities to ensure the safety of employees and contractors working in manholes. Public utilities must ensure that employees working underground maintain constant communication with another employee in the immediate vicinity and that rescue procedures and equipment appropriate for the type of manhole in which work is being performed are available. Public utility employees working in and around manholes must be trained annually in such rescue procedures. Failure to comply with this act constitutes a class C misdemeanor.
