HB 386 -- Noise Reduction Measures for Motorboats

This bill prohibits operation of a motorboat or other motorized watercraft which is at least 25 feet in length unless such craft discharges its exhaust underwater in such a manner as to reduce the noise level from the vessel. No person can remove or alter any muffler or muffler system in a manner which will prevent it from being operated in accordance with this provision or manufacture, sell, or offer for sale any motorboat which is not equipped with a muffler or muffler system which does not comply. These provisions will not apply to power vessels designed, manufactured, and sold for the sole purpose of competing in racing events. Any person who violates these provision will be guilty of a class C misdemeanor for a first offense and a class B misdemeanor for the second and subsequent offense.
