HB 396 -- School Start Date
This bill permits school districts to use the agricultural exemption to begin the school year before the first day of September only if the assessed valuation of agricultural property accounts for more than 30 percent of the total assessed valuation of the district. Under current law, school districts are allowed to begin the school year before the first day of September if the local school board determines that students are needed for agricultural production.
