HJR 27 -- Tax Limitation

This amendment to the state constitution requires a vote of the people for approval of any aggregate increases in taxes and revenue for any fiscal year in excess of $25,000,000. The Commissioner of the Office of Administration will determine when voter approval is necessary and the Governor will call an election to put the question before the voters.

The amendment also designates the State Auditor as having the sole responsibility of determining whether the refund provisions of the current constitutional tax limit are triggered and in what amounts.
