SB 834 - This act makes it a crime to knowingly profit, use for profit, sell, purchase or transport for sale or profit any human remains without the right of possession.
This act also makes it a crime to knowingly profit, use for profit, sell, purchase or transport for sale or profit any cultural items without the right to possession. A person who commits a crime under this act is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor for the first offense and a Class D felony for a second or subsequent violation. Cultural items are defined as including associated and unassociated funerary objects.
This act is similar to SB 429 from 1995.
