E D] SENATE BILL NO. 600
Relating to the public schools, with penalty provisions.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. 1. As used in this section, the term "material" means any pamphlet, leaflet, book or booklet, banner, sign, poster, or any other matter whether printed or otherwise displayed, which the teachers, administrators, or any other employees of the public school know of or should know of, containing any words, messages, pictures, or symbols, disseminated or in any manner presented to students of the public schools, whether or not as a part of the academic curriculum or incident to any extracurricular activity.
2. No public school district shall publish, disseminate or use any material that promotes or advocates homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle.
3. No administrator, teacher, or any other employee of any public school shall publish, disseminate or in any other manner present any material to any public school student which promotes or advocates homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle.
4. Any person who violates subsection 3 of this section is guilty of an infraction.
5. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit a teacher from referring to homosexuality in the teaching of health or specifically mentioning acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).
