ASSUMPTION
Marion County officials assume this proposal is permissive and would have no
fiscal impact to state government.
Callaway County officials assume this proposal would have no fiscal impact
unless the county clerk, with commission approval, would request legal
representation.
Oversight assumes this proposal is permissive and would have no fiscal impact
to state funds.

County governments would have no fiscal impact unless their County Clerks,
with County Commission approval, would use the authority provided for in
section 115.052.1.
DESCRIPTION
This act would allow county clerks to appoint attorneys for consultation and
representation in election matters only. The county clerk would choose no
more than one attorney from a list provided by a major political party.
Attorney's fees would be subject to the county commission's approval.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other
program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental
space.
