Officials from the Department of Health (DOH) assume no fiscal impact.

Officials from the Department of Highway Safety (DHS) - State Highway Patrol
(MHP) assume no fiscal impact to their department.

Officials from the Missouri Sheriff's Association assume no local fiscal
impact to Missouri's Sheriffs.

City of St. Louis officials assume no fiscal impact.  St. Louis officials
stated that the investigations this proposal could require are currently
conducted by the city's Medical Examiner.

Jackson, Stone, Greene and Taney County officials assume no fiscal impact.

DESCRIPTION

This act states that when a death occurs away from a licensed health care
facility, the first licensed medical professional or law enforcement officer
learning of the death should contact the county coroner or county medical
examiner.  The county coroner or medical examiner shall make the
determination if further investigation is needed, based on the information
provided by the medical professional or law enforcement officer. The coroner
or medical examiner shall immediately advise the person who contacted him of
his intentions of whether to form an investigation.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other
program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental
space.
