                              FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials from the Department of Economic Development-Professional
Registration (DPR) and Department of Health (DOH) assume the proposed
legislation would have no fiscal impact on their agencies.

DESCRIPTION

The proposed legislation would define "certified nurse-midwife" and "nurse
midwifery". Only certified nurse-midwives and physicians could practice
midwifery. The legislation would include certain exemptions, such as
gratuitous midwifery services, religion practices or emergency medical care
rendered to a pregnant woman by licensed or certified ambulance personnel
acting in the course of their regular duty.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other
program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental
space.
