DESCRIPTION

The proposed legislation would lower the age requirement for attaining
qualification for jury service from twenty-one years to eighteen years of
age. It would also provide jury service exemption for persons who are
full-time students; however, this exemption would only apply to a student who
is enrolled at a school more than 50 miles from the county in which the jury
summons is issued.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other
program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental
space.
