DESCRIPTION

The proposal would allow the court to order a child fourteen or older, who
has been adjudicated for a non-violent crime, to work for an employer at a
rate not to exceed minimum wage until restitution for the damage or loss
caused by the offense has been paid.

Court approved community service work could be ordered if the child is
fourteen or older.

The definition of employee would be expanded to include a child fourteen or
older ordered to make restitution for damage or loss caused by the offense.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other
program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental
space.
