HB 1097 Allows First Responders To Use Defibrillators

CCS/SCS/HB 1097 - This act permits the Department of Health to establish a "First Responder" program to allow the use of an automatic external defibrillator by first responders. The Department of Health shall establish this program in two stages: Pilot projects will first be started in Greene, Jasper, Clay, Barry, Stone, Taney, Webster, Buchanan, and Perry counties and later, statewide as determined by the General Assembly.

This act also stipulates that the governing body of any third or fourth class city may with the consent of the county commission hold an election on the question of contracting for 911 phone services if those cities are in a county of the third class with at a population of at least 32,000, but less than 40,000 and borders on a county of the first classification. Currently, Christian county meets this requirement.

This act is similar to SB 659.
