Current Bill Summary

SB 67 - Transportation corporations are authorized to enforce the collection of tolls upon toll bridges in conjunction with the Department of Transportation and law enforcement officials. Various methods of toll collection may be used. Corporations operating a toll facility shall post a notice for drivers of vehicles to warn about the penalty for failure to pay toll.

PENALTY, PROCEDURES - The penalty for failure to pay a toll shall be an infraction. Written reports, telephone calls and photo evidence shall be admissible in court, subject to foundation evidence. Photo monitoring evidence and reports based upon it shall raise a presumption that a certain vehicle violated the law. Citations shall be issued by a law enforcement agency.

Only one of multiple owners of a vehicle may be convicted. Protections are established for rental and leasing companies.
