Title: | SCS/SB 291 | |||
Effective Date: | August 28, 1997 | |||
SCS/SB 291 - After July 1, 1998, it shall be unlawful for anyone in Missouri to act as a real estate appraiser or to engage in the business of real estate appraisal or to advertise as a real estate appraiser without obtaining a license or certificate from the Missouri Real Estate Appraiser Commission: There are certain exemptions from these provisions and they are set out in subsection 5 of Section 339.501 of this act.
Persons who desire to obtain licensure as a state-licensed real estate appraiser or certification as a residential or general real estate appraiser must apply in writing to the Missouri Real Estate Appraisers' Commission. Requirements and fees for licensure and certification are covered in the act.
The act creates three classes of real estate appraisers: (1) state licensed real estate appraiser; (2) certified residential appraiser; and (3) certified general real estate appraiser.
The act has provisions pertaining to license renewal, failure to renew within a specified time and renewal of an expired license.
The substitute also removes the requirement for thirty hours of continuing education and leaves the requirement up to the Appraisal Qualification Board with the approval of the Real Estate Commission.
Violations of the provisions of Sections 339.500 to 339.549
of this act are Class B misdemeanors.
