SB 465 - This act creates a new Bureau of Gaming Security in the Department of Public Safety. The Bureau shall be a Type III agency, administered by a Director appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.
POWERS - The Bureau shall have enforcement authority over all gaming activities in the state, including gambling boats, the state lottery and bingo operations. Bureau officers shall have access to all gaming facilities in the state.
ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS - Training requirements for enforcement officers of the Bureau shall including a minimum of 300 hours in training for gaming laws and a total of at least 1000 hours. General criminal law enforcement authority is given to the officers on the premises of any gaming facility, including the power to pursue suspects therefrom.
BUDGET - Payment of the costs of the Bureau shall be made by the users of licensed gaming facilities and the purchasers of lottery tickets. Estimates shall be made of the Bureau's expenses, and the costs shall be assessed according to the gross revenues brought in by the gaming facilities and the lottery.
EFFECTIVE DATE - The act goes into effect on January 1,
1998.
