Interim Joint Committee on Transportation
The committee shall analyze and study the status of transportation
needs in this state with emphasis on the following items:

Determine the magnitude of Missouri's unfunded transportation needs with
regards to all major modes of transportation in the state, giving particular
attention to the projects in the 1992 so called 15-year plan and projects
under Proposition A.

Makes specific recommendations as to whether additional funding for transportation
is needed and if so the most appropriate means and funding sources for
addressing those needs.

Make specific recommendations for assuring full accountability in the expenditures
of Missouri's transportation funds, including any new funding necessary
to fulfill currently unfunded transportation needs.

Make specific recommendations for other appropriate changes and improvements
to Missouri's transportation programs and policies.
In conducting its work, the committee shall always endeavor to remember
that a high quality transportation infrastructure is essential to maintaining
Missouri's economic competitiveness, to assuring the safety of persons
and commerce traveling withing or through the state, and to maintaining
a high quality of life in Missouri.
The committee shall also review the recommendations and final report
of the Total Transportation Commission, the Budget and Planning analysis
of the financial status of the 15-Year Road and Bridge Program; and all
other material or data deemed appropriate by the committee.
