                              FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

The Department of Social Services (DOS) expects the data processing costs
associated with this proposal to be negligible. Oversight assumes any costs
would be absorbed with existing resources.

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business

The proposal would not have a direct fiscal impact on small businesses.

DESCRIPTION

The proposal would change from five years to eighteen months the amount of
time that the Division of Family Services would be required to retain
identifying information in alleged child abuse or neglect cases. At the end
of the eighteen months, the identifying information would be removed from
division records and destroyed.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other
program, would not require additional capital improvements or rental space,
and would not affect total state revenue.
