FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 125 -- MERIT SYSTEM POLICE DEPARTMENTS SPONSOR: Heckemeyer COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill restricts the number of persons on the personnel board of a merit system police department in a third class city to 6 persons and deletes the requirement that they come from the first and second largest political parties in equal numbers. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporter say that this bill would help find qualified people to serve. The bill would only affect 15-20 cities.
