HB 244 -- EMERGENCY VEHICLES SPONSOR: Hosmer COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 16 to 0. This bill includes any vehicle designed to perform hazardous substance emergency functions as an emergency vehicle. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill allows properly equipped hazardous substance vehicles to respond with red lights and sirens to an emergency situation. In 1996, DNR responded to 153 environmental emergency responses or spills. Testifying for the bill were Representative Hosmer; and Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
