COMMITTEE
HB 381, HCA 1 -- LOCAL LOG TRUCK
SPONSOR: Koller
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Transportation˙by a vote of 22 to 0.
This bill establishes a new category of commercial motor vehicle
called "Local Log Truck." A local log truck is a commercial
motor vehicle used exclusively to transport harvested forest
products, operated solely at a forested site and in an area
extending not more than a 50 mile radius from such site,
carrying a load with dimensions not in excess of 25 cubic yards
per 2 axles with dual wheels, not having more than 4 axles, and
not pulling a pup which has more than 2 axles.
The annual registration fee for a local log truck will be $300.
HCA 1 -- The local log truck provision will apply only to
Missouri trucks.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the weight on log trucks varies
from load to load due to the type of logs and weather
conditions. It is often impossible to know when a truck is being
overloaded in the forest. This will help properly load such
trucks and get them safely from the forest to the mill.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Koller.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
