BILL SUMMARIES

TRULY AGREED

HB 520 -- SURPLUS PROPERTY; CAPITOL POLICE

This bill requires any money generated from the leasing of state
property to be deposited in the fund from which moneys for rent,
operations, or purchases have been appropriated.

The bill also gives the Capitol Police the same powers and
authority on state-leased property as they have on state-owned
property.

PERFECTED

HB 520 -- SURPLUS PROPERTY (Green)

This bill requires any money generated from the leasing of state
property to be deposited in the fund from which moneys for rent,
operations, or purchases have been appropriated.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

COMMITTEE

HB 520 -- SURPLUS PROPERTY

SPONSOR: Green

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Correctional and State Institutions by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill requires any money generated from the leasing of state
property to be deposited in the fund from which moneys for rent,
operations, or purchases have been appropriated.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this just broadens a law that
was passed last year. With welfare reform the division feels
there will be a lot of empty space in Employment Security
offices and this will let the state recoup some money by
subleasing property.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Green; and the
Director of the Division of Facilities Management.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
