HB 642 -- HOME HEALTH AGENCIES SPONSOR: Smith COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Critical Issues by a vote of 21 to 0. This bill adds podiatrists to those physicians who may prescribe a plan of treatment to patients utilizing home health services. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill is necessary to specify that podiatrists are allowed to prescribe a plan of treatment for patients utilizing home health services. The existing statutes might be interpreted to be inconsistent with the Department of Health's rules. Testifying for the bill were Representative Smith; Tom Brant; Department of Health; Missouri Alliance for Home Health Care; Missouri Hospital Association; American Association of Retired Persons; and Missouri Eagle Forum.
