This bill increases the maximum award from $20,000 to $30,000. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 663 -- RESEARCH PROJECT AWARDS CO-SPONSORS: Stokan, Burton COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Higher Education by a vote of 19 to 0. Current law authorizes research grants of up to $20,000 per year to be awarded by the University of Missouri Board of Curators, primarily for projects related to the study of Alzheimer's disease. This bill increases the maximum award from $20,000 to $30,000. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that increasing the grant awards will promote stronger research projects and will attract a broader spectrum of research studies. HB 663 -- Research Project Awards Co-Sponsors: Stokan, Burton This bill grants that individual research investigators performing original investigation on Alzheimer's disease and related disorders may receive funding awards that do not exceed $30,000 per year. These awards must expire at the end of 1 or 2 years. The advisory board appointed by the Board of Curators determines the time period of the award.
