HB 769 -- COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLES SPONSOR: Relford COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 12 to 0. The maximum gross weight for which a land improvement contractors' commercial motor vehicle may be registered is 80,000 pounds. Presently the maximum gross weight is 73,280 pounds. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that land improvement equipment is getting heavier and cannot get an overweight permit. This will brings land improvement contractors' commercial motor vehicle plate in compliance with other plates. Testifying for the bill were Representative Relford; Missouri Motor Carriers Associations; and the following contractors stood in support: Kin and Albert Balkenbusch, Linn; Nelson Wilson, Mexico; Debra Dickens, Jefferson City; Wally Sloan, Nevada; Joe Bouer, Rockville; Roger Limback, Alma; Charles Boyer, Memphis; and Bob Parks, Clinton.
