HB 791 -- LEGAL PUBLICATIONS (Stoll) This bill allows a newspaper to publish legal notices when it is the successor to a defunct newspaper which could publish legal notices, as long as publishing was not interrupted for more than 30 days. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 791 -- PUBLICATION OF LEGAL NOTICES SPONSOR: Stoll COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 15 to 0. This bill allows a newspaper to publish legal notices when it is the successor to a defunct newspaper which could publish legal notices, as long as publishing was not interrupted for more than 30 days. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the legislation allows a successor in ownership to a newspaper to publish legal notices, so long as the publications is begun within 30 days. The legislation also makes minor changes to definitions and technical changes to Section 493.050 RSMo. Testifying for the bill was Representative Stoll.
