HB 95 -- EMERGENCY TELEPHONE USE The bill makes it a class B misdemeanor to misuse emergency telephone services by repeated calls, defined by the bill as more than 3 times in one month, to 911 or purposely reporting false emergency situations. Currently this is a crime only in Greene County. This bill establishes the crime statewide.
HB 95 -- EMERGENCY 911 SERVICE (Long) The bill makes it a class B misdemeanor in all counties to misuse emergency telephone service by repeated calls to 911 and purposely reporting false emergency situations. Currently the law applies only to Greene County. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 95 -- EMERGENCY 911 SERVICE SPONSOR: Long COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 13 to 0. The bill makes it a class B misdemeanor in all counties to misuse emergency telephone service by repeated calls to 911 and purposely reporting false emergency situations. Currently the law applies only to Greene County. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill makes the crime of misuse of emergency 911 service a statewide crime.
