He is chairman of the Senate Corrections and General Laws Committee and the Senate State Budget Control Committee and vice-chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee, the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee, as well as serving as a member of the Senate Rules, Joint Rules and Resolutions Committee and the Senate Transportation Committee. Scott is past President Pro Tem of the Missouri State Senate having served as such for six years from 1983 through 1988.
Senator Scott is engaged in the retail lumber business in the St. Louis area. He was elected Outstanding Young Man of America in 1972 and received the St. Louis Globe-Democrat's Meritorious Public Service Award during the 77th, 80th and 82nd sessions of the General Assembly. Senator Scott was also named 1992 Statesman of the Year by the Robert C. Goshorn Foundation for his service to the State. He is a member of the St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church.
Senator Scott and his late wife (the former Patricia Anne Crowe) have three children and seven grandchildren. His St. Louis office is located at 3761 Bates, St. Louis, Missouri 63116.
